  • Prices include paint correction, from $800 for Black + GT1 to $3,200 for a large vehicle with CSU + EXOv5.
  • Regular safe washing keeps the coating performing and the warranty valid.

Why We Chose GTECHNIQ

There are plenty of ceramic coating brands on the market. We install GTECHNIQ because it is British-engineered, independently tested, and its professional coatings are only sold to installers who meet the brand's accreditation standards. That last part matters. It means the product on your car has been applied by someone GTECHNIQ has trained and approved, not bought online and wiped on in a driveway.

Carfē is a GTECHNIQ Accredited studio, one of a small number in New Zealand. Every coating is installed by our own technicians inside our Greenlane studio, in purpose-built bays with controlled lighting and temperature, so the coating can level and cure the way it is designed to.

What Auckland Does To Your Paint

Auckland is tougher on paintwork than most people expect. Strong New Zealand UV fades and oxidises clear coat, coastal air carries salt inland, and frequent rain leaves mineral spots when it dries on the panels. Add bird droppings, tree sap, motorway grime and brake dust, and an unprotected finish starts to dull surprisingly quickly.

A professional ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat and forms a hard, glossy, water-repellent layer over it. Contamination struggles to stick, water beads and sheets away, and washing becomes quicker and safer. It will not stop stone chips or deep scratches, but it keeps the paint cleaner, glossier and easier to look after for years rather than weeks.

Preparation Comes First, Every Time

A coating locks in whatever is underneath it. If it goes on over swirl marks, water spots and wash scratches, those defects are sealed in for the life of the coating. That is why every GTECHNIQ coating at Carfē is applied after machine paint correction, never over untouched paint.

  • Black includes a 1-step paint correction that lifts gloss and removes light defects before the optional GT1 coating.
  • Platinum includes a full decontamination, solvent panel prep and a 2-3 step paint correction before your chosen GTECHNIQ coating.

The GTECHNIQ Range At Carfē

We offer two routes into GTECHNIQ protection, depending on how long you plan to keep the car and how much protection you want.

GT1 Ceramic Coating, With Black

GT1 is an accessible first step into professional ceramic protection. It is applied over your freshly corrected paint to add gloss, water repellency and easier washing, and it typically lasts around 1 year.

Best for: owners who want a noticeably better, easier-to-clean finish without committing to a multi-year system.

EXOv5, Included With Platinum

EXOv5 is GTECHNIQ's hydrophobic top coat and comes as standard with every Platinum service. It is known for its slick feel, deep gloss and the way water beads and rolls straight off the panels.

Best for: owners who want exceptional water behaviour and gloss on a fully restored finish.

Crystal Serum Light (CSL)

Crystal Serum Light is a professional-grade ceramic coating that bonds to the corrected paint to create a hard, glossy and chemically resistant surface. It is backed by a GTECHNIQ warranty of up to 5 years when applied by an accredited installer.

Best for: daily drivers and anyone keeping the car for the long term.

Crystal Serum Ultra (CSU)

Crystal Serum Ultra is GTECHNIQ's flagship coating and is only available through accredited installers. It is the most comprehensive ceramic protection GTECHNIQ produces, backed by a warranty of up to 9 years.

Best for: owners who want the highest level of protection and the longest-lasting result.

Layered Systems: CSL + EXOv5 and CSU + EXOv5

Either Crystal Serum can be topped with EXOv5. The Crystal Serum provides the hard base layer, and EXOv5 adds extra slickness, gloss and water repellency on top. EXOv5 can be refreshed later without disturbing the base coating, which keeps the finish performing at its best.

Best for: the ultimate combination of long-term protection and showroom water behaviour.

What Happens On The Day

  1. Inspection. We check the paint under studio lighting and confirm the right correction level and coating for your car.
  2. Decontamination wash. A full hand wash, followed by chemical and clay decontamination to remove iron fallout, tar and bonded grime.
  3. Paint correction. Machine polishing to remove swirls and light defects and bring back depth and clarity.
  4. Panel prep. A solvent wipe removes polishing oils so the coating bonds directly to clean clear coat.
  5. Coating application. Your chosen GTECHNIQ coating is applied panel by panel and levelled by hand.
  6. Curing and handover. The coating cures in our studio before we walk you through aftercare.

Looking After A GTECHNIQ Coating

A ceramic coating makes maintenance easier, not unnecessary. To keep it performing:

  • Wash every one to two weeks with a pH-neutral shampoo and the two-bucket method.
  • Avoid automatic brush car washes and harsh degreasers.
  • Remove bird droppings and sap as soon as you can.
  • Book regular maintenance washes so contamination never has a chance to build up.

Our ceramic coating maintenance guide covers this in more detail, and a Carfē Care Plan is an easy way to keep a coated car on a regular wash schedule.
